Fishing Locations
Southern Vancouver Island's Strait of Juan de Fuca offer a number of very productive fishing spots that are accessible from four main launch sites:
1. Esquimalt Anglers Marina in the western part of Victoria gives access to the Oak Bay Flats, Discovery Island, Trial Island and Constance Bank, all good halibut spots, and, during the winter, good chinook salmon spots.
2. Cheanuh Marina in the Metchosin District gives access to Constance Bank, Becher Bay , Beechey Head, and Church Rock. These are salmon spots except for Constance Bank. This marina is about 30 minutes from Victoria.
3. Sunny Shores Marina in Sooke provides access to salmon fishing at Secretary (Donaldson) Island , Otter Point and Sheringham Point. The marina is about 40 minutes from Victoria.
4. Port Renfrew Marina near the village of Port Renfrew gives access to shoreline salmon fishing from Owen Point to Camper Creek, and to offshore fishing for salmon and halibut at Swiftsure Bank. This marina is about two hours from Victoria.
The first three are easy to access with a trailered boat so they have no travel time charge. The Port Renfrew location has a two hour travel time charge ($140 Canadian) unless If We're Lucky is located in Port Renfrew already…check with the captain about this.
